ESA UNISMA English Student Association Universitas Islam Malang (UNISMA) has once again demonstrated its commitment to improving the quality of education and service to the community.
One form of commitment is by organising Social Work and Extra Teaching activities in Balesari Village, Ngajum District, Malang Regency. The activity was carried out for 15 days, from 25 July to 08 August 2023. This activity was attended by students from the English Department student association and several volunteers who will teach in several schools in Balesari Hall.
This activity is part of the routine work programme carried out by the English Study Programme to empower students in making a positive contribution to the surrounding community.
Social Work and Extra Teaching is a programme that aims to help children and young people in the surrounding area in improving the quality of education of the surrounding community.
The Head of the Department of English Education at UNISMA, Mr Eko Suhartoyo M.Pd said that Social Work and Extra Teaching are two activities that focus on academic education, and empower students to play an active role in community empowerment.
"Through this programme, we hope that students can share their knowledge and expertise with the community and at the same time gain valuable experience in contributing to society," said Mr Eko on the sidelines of releasing the English Student Association participants to the location of the activity.
"It helps in honing their academic learning. In addition, the students will also introduce interesting and interactive English language learning," he explained.
Furthermore, Mr Eko hoped that with this programme, UNISMA's English students would continue to play an active role in encouraging students to contribute to improving the quality of education and community empowerment.
"Hopefully this activity can be an inspiring example for other universities in making a positive impact on society through social and educational activities," he hoped.
